How to Style Luxury Hair

Styling raw Vietnamese hair is simple once you understand how the hair behaves. Because this hair is completely unprocessed, it responds beautifully to heat, holds curls well and can be styled in many different ways. The key is gentle handling and the right techniques. Here is everything you need to know.

Preparing the Hair

Before styling, make sure the hair is clean, dry and fully detangled. Brush gently from the ends upward to avoid tension on the wefts or lace. Raw hair should never be styled while wet, as this can cause unnecessary shedding or damage.

Use Heat Protectant

Because raw hair is real human hair, it needs to be protected from heat. Always apply a light, alcohol-free heat protectant before using straighteners, curling wands or blow dryers. This helps prevent dryness and breakage.

Straightening

To achieve a sleek, polished look, set your straightener to a moderate heat (around 160–180°C). Work in small sections, gliding the flat iron down the hair with gentle, steady pressure. Avoid repeatedly passing the straightener over the same strand, as this is unnecessary with raw hair and can reduce its lifespan.

Curling and Creating Waves

Raw Vietnamese hair holds curls extremely well. To curl the hair, use a curling wand or straightener on a medium heat setting. Curl small sections for tighter curls or larger sections for softer waves. Hold each curl for a few seconds, release, and allow it to cool before brushing through. For a natural look, gently separate the curls with your fingers once they have cooled fully.

Blow-Drying

If you choose to blow-dry the hair, use a medium heat setting and keep the dryer moving to prevent heat concentration. Blow-dry upwards at the roots to add volume. Finish with cool air to lock in smoothness and shine.

Styling Water Wave or Natural Wave

These textures look best when they are hydrated and defined. Lightly mist the hair with water or a leave-in conditioner spray. Use a wide-tooth comb or your fingers to define the wave pattern. For extra definition, apply a small amount of curl cream to the ends. Avoid heavy gels or alcohol-based products, as they can cause dryness.

Preventing Damage

To keep your hair in excellent condition, avoid using extremely high heat settings. Do not style the hair while wet and try to limit the use of heavy styling products. Always protect your hair at night with a silk bonnet or scarf. If you are having the hair professionally installed, choose a stylist who understands how to handle raw hair properly.

Maintaining Your Style

Raw hair does not require constant restyling. Straight styles can be preserved overnight by wrapping the hair, while curled styles can be maintained by pin-curling the hair before bed. For wavy textures, refresh the waves in the morning with a light mist of water or leave-in conditioner.

The Versatility of Raw Hair

One of the best qualities of raw Vietnamese hair is its versatility. Whether you prefer sleek straight styles, big curls, soft waves or a natural effortless look, raw hair can achieve it all. With the right styling techniques and gentle care, your extensions will remain soft, full and beautiful for years.
