How to Wash Luxury Hair
Washing raw Vietnamese hair isn’t complicated — but it does require care and the right products to keep your luxury hair looking silky, soft and full. Here’s exactly how to wash your luxury bundles or wigs to maintain their quality.
Step 1: Detangle Gently
Before washing, always brush the hair from the ends up toward the weft.
Never pull, yank or brush from the roots first.
Removing tangles before water touches the hair prevents shedding and keeps the hair smooth during the wash.
Step 2: Rinse with Lukewarm Water
Soak the hair under lukewarm water from top to bottom.
Avoid hot water — it can dry out raw hair and affect its natural shine.
Step 3: Use a Sulphate-Free Shampoo
Apply a small amount of sulphate-free, moisturising shampoo.
Work the product gently through the hair using downward motions.
Do not rub or twist the hair — raw vietnemese hair requires gentle cleansing.
Rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear.
Step 4: Condition Generously
Apply a rich, moisturising conditioner and work it through with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb.
Leave the conditioner on for 3–5 minutes to allow maximum hydration.
For curly or wavy textures, you can leave it slightly longer.
Rinse well with cool or lukewarm water.
Step 5: Squeeze — Don’t Rub — the Hair
Gently squeeze out the excess water.
Avoid rubbing the hair with a towel as this can cause frizz or breakage.
A microfiber towel is ideal.
Step 6: Allow to Air-Dry
Lay the hair flat or hang it to air-dry naturally.
Avoid excessive blow-drying, and never sleep on wet hair as this causes friction and tangling.
For wigs, place them on a wig stand to maintain shape while drying.
Step 7: Moisturise Lightly
Once dry, apply a small amount of lightweight serum or leave-in conditioner to the mid-lengths and ends.
Avoid heavy oils — raw hair does not need much product.

Keeping luxury hair looking its best really does start with your nighttime routine. It doesn’t need to feel like hard work though. Honestly, once you get the hang of it, it becomes effortless. That is why we have created 6 tips to ensure that you care for them correctly. With out essential tips your bundles will stay soft, silky, and beautiful for years. Whether you’re wearing raw Vietnamese bundles or a wig, nighttime care is one of the biggest influences in how long your hair lasts.
Below is your complete guide to protecting luxury hair while you sleep, including extensions and wigs.
The 6 steps you need to follow before bed: The real magic!
- Gently detangle your hair by using a wide-tooth comb to brush from ends to roots. Sleeping with tangles hair causes knots that are difficult to remove and can also cause shedding.
- Using a silk bonnet, hair scarf or pillow daily will ensure they hair remains soft, smooth and tangle free.
- Choosing a protective style for your hair helps to hold curl pattern and can help it to lock in moisture. For curly / wavy hair textures, loose braids are highly recommended.
- DO NOT sleep with wet hair. Sleeping with wet hair causes shedding and can cause the wefts to tangle. Instead, dry thoroughly before bed.
- Raw hair honestly loves moisture, i’ve noticed adding serum to your nightime routine helps to hydrate your hair and maintian its smooth and shiny appearance.
- Hair maintenence is key in ensuring the hair remains in luxury condition. I recommend washing your hair regularly with sulfate free products. Always detangle gently starting with the ends so that you’re not pulling out any of the hairs. Once a month re-tighten the wefts as they can become loose when your hair grows. BONUS: trim those ends!!! It is an optional maintenence step but it ensures the hair remains healthy.

The Truth About Shedding
Shedding is one of the most common questions we receive, and it’s completely understandable — nobody wants hair that sheds excessively. At The Bundle Babe, we believe in being transparent about what’s normal, what isn’t, and why shedding happens even with the highest-quality raw Vietnamese hair.
What Causes Shedding?
All real human hair sheds. Just like your natural hair loses a few strands daily, the same can happen with luxury hair. This doesn’t mean the hair is low quality — it simply means the cuticles are real and intact. Raw hair has not been chemically sealed, steamed or coated with silicone, so you may notice a few strands during the first brush or wash. This is completely natural.
How Much Shedding Is Normal?
A few strands here and there — especially during the first brush-through — is completely normal.
You may also notice 1–3 strands occasionally throughout the week. This is the same behaviour as natural human hair.
Shedding becomes unusual when:
-
Large clumps come out at once
-
Hair becomes thin quickly
-
Shedding continues heavily even after gentle brushing
Raw Vietnamese hair rarely behaves this way unless it has been damaged through installation or harsh products.
What Causes Excessive Shedding?
The most common reasons hair sheds more than usual are:
-
Cutting the wefts
-
Using bonding glue on tracks
-
Rough brushing or combing from the roots
-
Over-bleaching or over-processing
-
Heavy oils that weaken the weft stitching
-
Installing hair using poor techniques or unqualified stylists
Because our hair is raw and uncoated, it must be handled gently — just like natural hair.
Why Our Hair Sheds Less
At The Bundle Babe, our raw Vietnamese bundles are:
-
cuticle-aligned
-
sourced from single donors
-
intact at the root
-

How You Can Prevent Shedding
A few simple habits will dramatically reduce shedding:
-
Never cut the wefts — fold them instead
-
Brush gently from the ends upward
-
Avoid heavy oils and harsh products
-
Always detangle before washing
-
Use a silk bonnet or pillowcase at night
-
